Fleboedema is the edema that appears as a result of a venous system that does not function properly. It can occur in patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency. In some circumstances, this venous problem and the sustained increase in pressure in the tissue, along with the onset of infections or thrombosis, can also end up affecting the lymphatic system, in which case we would be dealing with a phlebolymphedema.
The complementary tests for its diagnosis are Eco-Doppler to assess the venous system and lymphoscintigraphy to assess the lymphatic system, although depending on the characteristics of the edema, we may suspect whether we are dealing with a case of fleboedema or phlebolymphedema.
